Are you currently undergoing or have undergone cancer treatment and are struggling with various issues as a result of your treatment? Or are you struggling with swelling or skin changes as a result of different medical conditions? Did you know that working with a Certified Lymphedema (CLT) and Board-Certified Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist (WCS, PRPC) can help with various issues relating to cancer treatment, swelling, and lymphedema and can:

  • Determine your baseline functioning of your pelvic floor and treatment to address any ongoing dysfunction prior to cancer-related surgery and treatment

  • Provide preventative education to help prevent pelvic floor issues as a result of cancer treatment

  • Become educated about the functioning of your lymphatic system and how it can become impacted during cancer treatment or in response to various vascular and arterial conditions

  • Become educated about the functioning of the pelvic floor musculature and how it can impact bladder, bowel, and sexual functioning as a result of cancer treatment

  • Establish care with a knowledgeable provider to help create your team for during and after cancer treatment

  • Provide recommendations to prevent long-term issues relating to cancer treatment and various medical conditions such as how to perform manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) and which compression garments are best for you and your situation

Looking for care for lymphedema or before, during, or following cancer treatment? As a certified lymphedema and pelvic floor physical therapist I am able to:

  • Address impairments and pain as a result of scar tissue following surgery and radiation treatment for cancer

  • Direct you on how to appropriately dilate following pelvic radiation treatment or get you started on dilation during and following treatment

  • Improve pelvic floor functioning relating to your bladder, bowels, or sex and intimacy during and following surgery and cancer treatment

  • Provide safe guidelines and direction to returning to exercise and activity following your cancer surgery

I can help with the following:

  • An accumulation of protein-rich fluid in different parts of the body (lymphedema) including the hands, fingers, arms, head, neck, chest, abdomen, genitals, legs, feet, and toes

  • Axillary web syndrome or cording

  • Lipedema (abnormal fat buildup in the legs or arms)

  • Lipolymphedema (when lipedema and lymphedema occur together)

  • Pain at the site of scar tissue as a result of surgery for cancer treatment

  • Pain at the site of radiation treatment

  • Fibrosis (thickening or scarring of tissue) as a result of lymphedema or radiation treatment

  • Heaviness, tightness, or swelling in any area of the body as a result of various vascular and arterial conditions (including conditions such as kidney disease or failure or heart disease or failure with physician clearance)

  • Swelling in the legs, feet, labia, and vulva during and following pregnancy

  • Clogged milk ducts and recurrent clogged milk ducts as a result of chest feeding or breast feeding and pumping

  • Any pelvic floor conditions as a result of cancer treatment
